I think the perfect accent to your sweet potato, bacon, chard dish would have been some fresh thyme..it always compliments sweet and smokey quite nicely..not sure if you had any onion or garlic in there, but that would be nice too!
Also, what about nutmeg... I add nutmeg, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and ginger to my potato and sweet potato dishes. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't.... and I don't add it all at the same time either! Also a tiny bit of cream maybe?
I'm pretty sure the berry is a nightshade, not edible.

ReplyDeleteGreat cretivity on the sweet potatoe dish. Would some brown sugar have brought out some of the bright notes? Maybe some apple cider?
