the garden you are looking at was a gravel driveway when we moved in . . . that's why we use raised beds. We dug down about a foot under each, then built the soil up.

Finished bed, planted with spinach, spicy greens mix, and romaine lettuce.
Ah, and all I had to do was enjoy the sunshine!
